We Walk By Faith, Not By Lust Lust: The Opposite Of Faith
It has been said that the opposite of faith is fear. While there is truth to that thought, and that thought is not to be torn down, I believe the better antonym to faith is lust. Lust is often driven by fear. Whereas faith is driven or works by love.
Lust is a neutral word. It is neither positive or negatve. Lust is simply a strong desire regardless of what is desired; good or evil. But lust is primarily used negatively or with an evil connotation in the bible.
How faith works is illustrated biblically like so:
Hebrews 11:1
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
It is consistent with this following verse:
Psalms 37:4
Delight yourself also in the LORD: and he shall give you the desires of your heart.
So we can also say the following:
Hebrews 11:1
Now "the desires of the heart that delights Himself in the Lord" is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
Or, now faith is the desires of the heart that delights Himself in the Lord.
Both thoughts leaves out maybe, or perhaps, but is exact. It is done.
We can not address enough the matrix that continues to be shown. Is it Gods desire and will for us, like a parent driving his child to do or be what he wants. Or, is it our desire, and our good Father God is granting us what we ourselves desire most. It is both. There is a complete duality between the thoughts and the truth doesn't lean towards one side or the other, other than it is He, God who has made us and not we ourselves.
Psalms 100:3
Know you that the LORD he is God: it is he that has made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.
Free will by God and yet servants to God can be difficult to comprehend and to teach. God placed certain desires and His Will in side us from the beginning. They are as much apart of us as our eye color, personality or unique character traits. They all go hand in hand, working together to accomplish all that God has made and make it flesh. God's desire is so much apart of us, it literally is our desire to. But when I say God's desires in us are ours, and what we are to manifest through faith, it must be ours according to the part of us that is godly, no matter how hidden, and not of flesh.
John 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: 13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
Now you can find the will of God for your life without or before being saved. But I use the above scripture to show that if the fullness of salvation, came by faith or believing on His (Jesus') name, and not of fleshly man, then all that is contained with in life must be the same, of God.
Because God is good, the desires must also be good for God Himself to manifest it and allow them to remain. Why would a good God place in His creation evil desires?
It is different with lust or evil desires. They are fleshly and self willed. They take us off course and will ALWAYS include some kind of sin or bad behavior. They are defined by this scripture:
James 1:14 But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.
15 Then when lust has conceived, it brings forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, brings forth death.
And also we know per James 1 that God did not place lust or evil desires in anyone to tempt them or for any reason, but the person does it to themself.
James 1:13
Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempts he any man:
And so we know God did not and will not manifest evil desires; lust.
And if not God, it can not remain. But lust can express itself and appear for periods of time, even life times.
Mark 8:36
For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?
It is here, in the "gaining of the whole world", lust concieved and bought to pass, that even the believer can become further tricked and deceived into confusing their lust with faith and that God is on their side. And unfortunately, because of the above truth, many are immobilized and are suspicious of others that gain the whole world righteously and by faith, and not by lust, not losing their souls. All things are possible with God.
You must know the perfect will of God for your life. We are to remain in His Will by faith, until there is a tangible shew. Then, we remain by faith in that that we have manifested, while adding on to it more. The will of God will remain in this present life and in the life to come.
To conclude, without faith it is impossible to please God. Lust does not please God. Lust is anti-Faith. We walk by faith, and not by our senses or what is sensual. Lust, in the context of the bible, is sensual and fleshy. Lust can not please God. It is impossible.
Amen.

*Important note. James 1 is written to believers. It dispells the myth once saved, always saved. Sin, when it is finished brings forth death (vs. 15), whether you are a believer or not. The only difference is the unbeliever is already dead. But Jude 12 speaks of "twice dead". And as far as how many sins it takes, it depends. There is a course of sin, like there is a course of righteousness. When it is finished, there's death. You do not want to play the odds on whether the course is long or short. Just BE right. Repent daily if necessary.*
