Come Let Us Reason Together: Things Have Gone Way Too Far
No opening statements. I am just going to jump right in there.
If the compromise is to delay the ACA for one year, but not "defund", then it can only be acceptable if there is overwhelming proof that the bill is more not ready, than ready.
What about the millions of Americans who for the first time will be covered, like those with pre existing conditions? I am not convinced that a delay is in the hearts of the majority of the people, only that those that do want it are louder, and the "squeaky wheel". But if they can prove it, then may be a good and viable compromise.
In order for it to be a point of compromise however, "defunding" must be taken completely off the table this year and in the years to come. Let those that oppose, repeal it the right way and get the votes, since they say that is what the majority of Americans want nationwide.
Both parties, in the mean time, need to work together to make this LAW work for all, whether for the "General Welfare" and health of all, or purely economically and in defense of the responsible, who in the past was always paying for the irresponsible, by making all be responsible for paying for their own health needs, which is what the bill does. For both causes, one Leftist and the other a Right wing principle, this is a good bill.
Now concerning the debtlimit. The Democrats are right. Last years bills should get paid. But then the negotiations can and must be about next year, tax reform and budget cuts. We can't keep raising the debt limit without acknowledging there is a budget problem, the need to raise it proves it, and doing something about it through #RevenueReform, #Cuts and a longterm #BalancedBudget plan.
Last week, I posted of the President's unreasonableness, and how that saying he was not going to negotiate on what is clearly negotiable (the debt limit, but not "defundobamacare"), and how it is more wise to do so than not. I say the same to the Republicans. It is as unreasonable to not negotiate on "Obamacare", have ready viable solutions/alternatives, and say "defund", repeal or else. That is ridiculous, has no place in government, and displays a lack of care for "We the People", as people, and our individual personal lives. But this kind of ineffective rhetoric only makes "We the People" a means to an end, and voters. It is not personal, but pandering. Both Mike Lee and Ted Cruz, in their "defund" efforts, have basically said as much.
Conservatives also have to stop using Obama's and the Democrats flexibility concerning certain parts of the ACA, and how it can be made to work better, as a strategy against them. If every time there is a way to make this or any LAW better, whether presented by a Democrat, Republican, or the President himself, Republicans use it as a public call and reasoning to strike down the whole bill, and leverage to repeal or "defund" it, then the President and Democrats will have no other choice but to stop being flexible and agreeable. That will screw the whole nation. The perfect example is the Republican, via Rep. Diane Blackburn, amendment that would limit fraud in it. That is a good thing. But how can the President and Democrats agree to it, though it is for the good of the entire nation and makes the bill better, if their agreements are constantly used then as leverage against them and the LAW itself? And besides which, what LAW has never been reformed or amended over time, including THĒ LAW by which ALL American laws hang off of and are derived from; THĒ LAW of the Land, the Constitution? Even it was amended. Those amendments are called the Bill of Rights. Remember, or Learn. This argument that the ACA must not be a good bill at all because wise improvements can be made is yet another one that does not hold water. (I'm on a roll with jam AND cream cheese!! :) This has got to stop!
The ACA is working in several states, therefore it can work in all. Thus, the entire "defund"/repeal campaign does not make sense. It is purely political. NATIONAL politicians and Representatives have forgotten that they are supposed to balance the needs of all of America with that of their constituents and mediate what is best for all and properly communicate wisdom. It is this inability; which is the essence of and definition of politician or ignorance altogether of what the definition of a Republic is, that is the problem. The entire nation needs a civics lesson.
Most Representatives are now just seeking their own, and what is best for themselves; how to get re elected and/or raise money (Juan Williams shout out), without doing what is actually right to do, and pandering. That's not leadership. Ladies and Gentleman, THAT'S SOCIALISM!!
Republicans and Conservatives everywhere. Listen up. Here's the biggest punchline of them all!! You have become EXACTLY what you despise, and what you accuse Obama of. You have become a Socialist Party, especially the Tea Party. The Tea Party does not even follow a platform that represents their name. It's "No Taxation without Representation." Remember. It's not "No Taxation unless the Masses say so." Again. That's Socialism. If the latter was true, then why should we bother to send Representatives at all? Why not cut out the middle man. But if we did do it that way, that would be Socialism.
Representatives need input, and feedback from everybody, especially their own constituents, and FACTS as to what is best for their State or electoral body or area. But then, all of that information has to be taken to Washington and then balanced with the FACTS, information, feed back and what is best for all the other States/Territories as that is made available and communicated through all the other Representatives. Then, all of the information and FACTS must be sifted through and judged, to reach a conclusion that is best for the entire country as a whole and each area represented, within the LAW. If it is not done this way, then there will no longer exist a "One Nation" called America any more.
A politician must know how to communicate truthfully, without lying or manipulating the voters, what is the right thing to do after weighing ALL the FACTS, and not fears or lust. They are to lead by mediating and negotiating what is best for that area/state and what is best for all, and then they must have the ability to communicate that properly and effectively to the wisest of wise and simplest of the simple.
Again. What those on the Far Right have accused, and accuse Obama of, is exactly what they are now actually doing. They are tearing the country apart, making all pieces separate and only focused on self (which is slightly different from small government), and they are tearing down and disregarding the very foundations of this Land and its values.
Consider what you do. Don't win today, only to lose many tomorrows and destroy what we are all supposed to be fighting for; America the Beautiful and a better One at that.
God Bless America. The America that is actually supposed to BE. Oh how I love You so.
Yulanda K. - An awesome public servant right now. I care, have knowledge, and I have integrity. It is the lack of all three found in those running the country that is the problem. All 3; Care, Knowledge; how and the RIGHT way of doing things, and Integrity; acting ONLY within care and doing things the right way no matter what, whether in acting, or re acting, must be at our highest levels.
