#Arizona. Arizona. Arizona. I know it is not every resident. I hear Sedona is quite lovely. I have a former co-worker that considered moving there. (I could not remember the city name until a law clerk mentioned it. Thank you MH.) I am sure it is just a small sect of people screwing up in Arizona. Like many places, especially in this great country, it is usually just a few. Only coupled with the cooperation of the many via silence, the few can do great damage. I see now why Steve Nash had to leave the Suns. (Get Kobe another ring, sir!) I digress. Let me get back to Arizona and the issue at hand. First, there was (or unfortunately is) the whole "status check", civil rights violation issue in the name of border security and stopping illegal immigration. (I am for the latter, but the former; the law and that procedure is ridiculous. There are better ways to protect our borders.) And now there's also this, compliments of Arizona. What's "this" you ask? I will tell you. According to Arizona, life now begins at the end of a women's last period. (Long sigh) I am not sure which debacle came first, "status check" or this "thing", but words can barely express my "OMG'ness". Arizona. Arizona. Arizona. I never thought it possible, but you just may have successfully stolen that feeling of elation I used to get each time I finished my cycle. (Once a month you can hear me loudly singing a chorus of BORN FREE...FREE AS THE WIND BLOWS...) (Another Long sigh) What are you thinking Arizona? I mean if an illegal Mexican woman gets caught right after her period, do you deport two people? (All civil servants are pissed about the double paper work, too.) And if a Mexican woman is stopped for a busted tail light, and doesn't have her "papers", does Arizona law enforcement run two "staus checks" ? And now, with the new President Obama youth immigration initiative, does the "life" make the argument to stay and get an education or work visa? Ok enough. That's stretching it a bit, but no more than Arizona has stretched it. Really #think about this one. Whether you are pro-life or pro-choice, Arizona is saying all menstrating women, sexually active or not, are pregnant three out of four weeks every month! Arizona. Arizona. Arizona! Darn those Christian rights advocates for taking away Sex Ed! Let me simplify the facts of life as best I can.
A baby is made when sperm meets egg. We need both the physical reproduction product found only in women; eggs, and the substance only found in a man; sperm. Other than the virgin birth of baby Jesus, it takes BOTH these two together to make a baby. Now it is true that science has found ways to initialize and complete the baby making process and do away with the physicality and/or sexual activity, I'm told the fun stuff, to make it happen. There are now "turkey basters" and test tubes. I do not mean to offend using these terms. Science is wonderful and has helped many couples have children that could not have otherwise concieve. Indeed a blessing. But the substances used, even with these methods are still that of a man and a woman. They are not yet, synthetic. (I stress, YET.) I guess I should also mention cloning which eliminates the use for men altogether. (Be nice ladies :)
Let me make a few declarations and truths about myself. I am a born again, bible toting, scripture quoting, Holy Ghost filled, tongue talking, fire baptised Christian. I am a preacher. And I will one day, soon I hope, be a pastor. I believe, teach and expect every word found in the Word of God, the bible. With that said, I am not going to debate the veracity of Arizona's statement, now. I only want to point out the fact that once again, thoughts concerning reproduction and sex seem to only be directed to one side; women, and not to the other; men. Women are preached at and against concerning birth control because of God's commandment found in Genesis; be fruitful and multiply. Yet, I do not hear a similar argument against vesectemies. (Note. Vesectimies are often covered by most health insurance plans, and I rarely hear objection, even by the Church. #ACA shout out). Again, no debate to the truthfulness now, but only I expect consistency, uniformity, equality, and co-responsibility given to both genders. (My mental soundtrack is playing Marvin Gaye/Kim Weston. "It takes two, baby. It takes two, baby. Me and you..") I assume this thesis (not sure if it's law yet) is to make a stronger case against abortion. But, if the issue is true care for innocent life, then using sound, biological logic, in how Arizona attempts to define life, that it begins at the end of a woman's last mentral cycle, and with the limited, simplified sex 101 knowledge above, why doesn't life also begin with the seed or sperm of all men? There is no "period" in a month when their "little guys" can't make a baby, and there is seemingly no expiration, or at least a much greater shelf life than a woman's eggs. So, why isn't the spilling of seed by men when #masturbating thought of as destroying life, too? Why is it not upheld as precious and also considered life when it also is needed to make life. I even have a scripture passage, for the religious/moral right:
Genesis 38:9
And Onan knew that the SEED should not be his; and it came to pass, when he went in unto his brother's wife, that he spilled it on the ground, lest that he should give SEED to his brother.
Genesis 38:10
And the thing which he did displeased the Lord: wherefore he slew him also.
Notice. The use of the word seed can be used synonymously with baby or life. Go ahead. Insert the word baby. Now notice God's extreme harshness with this man, while Arizona does not address men at all. I do not want to make light of strong convictions, nor was this composition meant to argue when life begins and God forbid debate Roe v. Wade. But with all layed out, when I hear the debates against birthcontrol always directed towards woman, and arguments over abortion only directed at women... When I see rarely men addressed, when clearly biologically and according to God, it takes both, I make conclusions. Regardless of what I think of your position, it is, along with mostly all matters concerning reproduction, massagenous and anti-women. And what makes it worse to me, is the use of God and His Word often to do it. God has made the genders equal. In Genesis one, the bible says God made man in His image, male AND female made He them and gave THEM dominion. There are no scriptures concerning women and birth control directly, just allusions to it with the aforementioned "be fruitful and multiply" which is a charge to all families, not just women. The world now has 7,000,000,000, that's 7 billion, people. Can you say edict fufilled? Mission accomplished?
Side note: Then, when couples have these big families, because of "be fruitful", the same people who have a problem with birth control, have a problem when these families need public assistance. That's public assistance as in housing, food and oh yea, how about some #affordable health care (another #ACA shout out). That's another essay, though.
Again, I believe this was an attempt to make a stronger case against abortion, and no longer seperate birth control from abortion. According to Arizona, all birth control is abortion and murder, because it ceases life which begins, per them, at the end of the woman's last menstral cycle. I have to say it again. ALL WOMEN ARE ALWAYS PREGNANT, SEXUALLY ACTIVE OR NOT, 3 WEEKS OUT OF 4!!! (Longest sigh.) So, will Arizona extend this concept to include the illegalization of all male masturbation? If it seems ridiculous, then so should what it being suggested about "life" in a woman.
Now let me be clear. I hate abortion. It should never be used as a form of birth control. I preach, teach, pray, and council, but Arizona is ridiculous. I want illegal immigration stopped and dealt with, too, but Arizona just keeps going too far! Arizona. Arizona. Arizona. I think some liberals are in Arizona disguised as conservatives and are purposely sabotaging with this crazy 1942 stuff. Sorry. 1842 stuff. Stop. Please Stop Arizona.

P.S.
I am not ashamed of the gospel, which is the power unto salvation of both lives; the womans and the unborns, and not litigation and laws. God has given control to women, and has made babies; dependant life on that of a woman for 9 months or so. That's God's reality. He could have set it up so that as soon as there is conception, immediately the baby depends on both mom and dad, but He didnt. God could have immediately made the "village" responsible, but He didn't. We can ask Him why, but it would not change the God reality. Two to conceive, one to carry, two should help raise and train. God set up the system. And women, you will be held accountable for the choices you make. But, as said above, preaching and praying for the right choices to be made is more poweful than any legislation. It's why the Old Testament did not work. I would rather put abortion clinics out of business by taking their "patients" through the powe of convincing one to change directions. That's not only Gods way, it's the American way. And we know the alternative. We've been through it. There's the back room alleys, pills, "falling" down stairs and the "acciidents". Oh yes and let's not forget the wire-hangers. If she wants to abort, she will. But change her and save her, and you will save that life in her, whenever that life actually began Arizona.
(Dont get offended if your religion rests in the Old Testament. I'm Christian. Oy Vey!)
