 LetBrotherlyLoveContinue #JealousyAKILLER #NextFridayMasses (2/3/23) Heb 13:1-8, Mk 6:14-29...

So, if you just look at the first verse...

Heb 13:1: "Let brotherly love continue."

You'd think the passage is about a general love for all or for the brethren. It is,,but not directly.

What it says is that the way to keep things peaceful and of love all down the mountain is for each to do well and right by the ones directly over them, spiritually (though the reasoning works the same naturally and in the secular).

Each child obedient to their own parents and not jealous of siblings and we're that much closer to peace on earth. Brother love does continue.

See the very next verses are this...

Heb 13:2-3: "Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares. Remember them that are in bonds, as bound with them; and them which suffer adversity, as being yourselves also in the body."

See how Paul immediately turns to taking care of the higher powers first. This allows ease all the way down the mountain.

And about this...

Heb 13:4-6: "Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge. Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me."

It is often used to explain other things (bomchikabombom). But in real context. What Paul says is exactly as the entire Body is the Bride of Christ, each follower of ones Jesus sent to raise up are the brides of that higher power.

He starts out saying the marriage is honorable and the bed is undefiled and then talks about covetous and contentment with what you have. What he is trying to get to is some are bound to get more favor or opportunities even by good judgement and when one is in the "favor bed" the other must not get jealous but let brotherly love continue.

The Cain and Abel story is a great example...

Gen 4:3-8: "And in process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the LORD. And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the LORD had respect unto Abel and to his offering: But unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell. And the LORD said unto Cain, Why art thou wroth? and why is thy countenance fallen? If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him. And Cain talked with Abel his brother: and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and slew him."

1Jn 3:11-12: "For this is the message that ye heard from the beginning, that we should love one another. Not as Cain, who was of that wicked one, and slew his brother. And wherefore slew he him? Because his own works were evil, and his brother's righteous."

And Corinthians 11 from start to finish closely seeks to get out a similar message.

There is unfairness. Absolutely! But most, lke Cain, don't have enough knowledge to know what constitutes unfair and wind up doing evil based on ignorance and jealousy.

Heb 13:7-10: "Remember them which have the rule over you, who have spoken unto you the word of God: whose faith follow, considering the end of their conversation. Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever. Be not carried about with divers and strange doctrines. For it is a good thing that the heart be established with grace; not with meats, which have not profited them that have been occupied therein. We have an altar, whereof they have no right to eat which serve the tabernacle."

The rest of the reading just reiterates this is about doing well to who is over us..

Heb 13:7-8: "Remember them which have the rule over you, who have spoken unto you the word of God: whose faith follow, considering the end of their conversation. Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever."

Your time will come. Just keep doing what your supposed to be doing...

Luk 17:20-21: "And when he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God cometh not with observation: Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you."

Per the gospel, Herod chose his dancing stepdaughter over John. What wldve happen if he chose respecting the prophet, first? Even with Jesus's ministry? AGAIN...

1Jn 3:11-12: "For this is the message that ye heard from the beginning, that we should love one another. Not as Cain, who was of that wicked one, and slew his brother. And wherefore slew he him? Because his own works were evil, and his brother's righteous."

Let Brotherly Love Continue.
