What Has Happened?!
Maybe I'm Different When I see a woman in a Burqa at her job, or an Islamic man make time to bowdown 5 times a day & pray at work, being responsible to their job and faithful to their religion, I say God Bless America. But maybe I'm different. When I see a banker, or a nurse go about their business as dutiful as any other day, but with the spot of dark ash on their foreheads because it's Ash Wednesday as they boldly show their devotion to being Catholic, I say God Bless America. But maybe I'm different. When I see a Jewish lawyer come to court proudly wearing his yamaka or she wearing her Star of David necklace to display loyalty to faith even while at work and say to a judge, they can't ajourn a case to a particular day because it's a Jewish Holiday or Holy Day, I say God Bless America. But maybe I'm different. When I see a gay fireman not ashamed to bring her family to the annual, employee picnic, I say God Bless America. But maybe I'm different. When I see a Sikh pharmacist stand behind those white counters diligently filling orders, answering all questions and always wearing a turban, a very important religious observance, I say God Bless America. But maybe I'm different. So, when I, a Christian, read my bible and quote scriptures, or hum a religious melody in the halls between greeting the public at work, still getting the job done in excellence and with pride, I pray you will say God Bless America. And that you prove that maybe I'm not so different after all. I have blessed all and dengrated none. As long as any continues to be responsible, and good employees and citizens, without excuse, let us all have faith or not have it and bless this great nation that allows that for every single one of us and for every single faith, religion, or belief. If because of faith, any is held back from any job, position, or promotion, especially OUTSIDE THE SPHERE OF RELIGION, the constitution and 1st amendment is a lie and not worth more than the ink with which it was written. I love to stand out, but in these things please make sure that I am not different. -Yulanda K. Jones
I Stood Back Concerning Rep. Todd Akin I stood back for a minute to hear how some would spin or if they would spin the Rep. Todd Akin's rape comments. And I stress rape comments for these were not pro-life statements, but anti-rape victim statements. To have the position that the sanctity of life is most important and is to be saved even in the case of incest and rape is a legitimate argument. Rep. Akin has every right to hold that conviction. One could say the baby is only the result of crime and not the committer of the crime, so why punish innocent life. Many hold the other view, that in all cases, regardless of any personal views on abortion, it is the womans choice. We've heard the arguments. But Todd Akin's comments were based on any of these arguments. What Akin's comments boil down to is if a woman gets pregnant, it COULDN'T have been rape. This is the most disgusting statement I've ever heard and dangerous. Woman, or any man who has any care for any woman, had better think twice about keeping this guy in a leadership role or promoting him and giving him more power. #Think As for the "apology, it wasn't adequate at all. This was not a gaffe. People mis-speak all the time. Not all are smooth and silver tongued. But the overall content of his statements went far deeper then a regrettable one liner. It is not the same as Biden's remark or even any pro-life GOP remarks. I believe a real apology would contain a total retraction and I dare say repentance to every woman and most definately every victim of rape. Absolutely disgusting it was. To all pro-life advocates, as am I, I just do it in a different way. You have the right to be pro-life, but if you cover this up, we have a much deeper issue than a simple disagreement. -Yulanda K. Bigorty Seems To be Acceptable For Some and Not For Others If one derogatively talks against one of another religion and specifically about their faith, most would put the talker in the category of a bigot. This is true also if, outside of just being faithful to their God and faith, they promote and want respect for their own belief, but do not respect anyone else that believes differently. This is a fine line? a strait and narrow way, that any faithful person walks while interacting with others. I have noticed that there's a Simpsons episode about when the Simpsons and Ned Flanders go to Israel is being played quite often. I won't go into details, but there seems to be a push to make one new religion or tear down all religion. I mention this episode because it is so lol funny, but I believe its constant replay conveys a deeper message to plants seeds of anti faith. Considering my first paragraph, why isn't the attempt to tear down all religions, guised as peace, considered as bigoted as an attempt to tear down one? It is the same. If I am the only and the last to openly and boldly exclaim Jesus is Lord then so be it. And I will not and have not disrespected or discriminated against any other religion in doing so, but looked for open dialogue. I'm perfect in this matter. Our American founders got it right with the first amendment. We can be as religious or non-religious as we choose, but whatever we choose, we shall not be mistreated anyway. Jews, Muslims, & Christians have common points but are not the same. The biggest and most significant difference is that we all believe differently about Jesus. Yet, we co-exist. That is America. Faith compromised is no faith at all. And if one has to change their faith to get along and get by, then the first amendment is a lie. And for those that are offended because anothers faith, should maybe question the sincerity and strength of their belief in their own religion. Let us all openly be who we are and accept one another as long as we do not impose by force or impede anothers rights or liberties. Having one change for you to like or cooperate with them is not tolerance and acceptance at all, but quite the opposite. Nor is it the American way. But we have freedom to be and believe according to the faith of our choice. God Bless America and let freedom ring! Yulanda K. Jones
Ok. I held off. 5 quick points. 1) VP Joe Biden's comment, "They're going to put y'all back in chains.", was definitely race baiting. 2) His overall comments about Romney/Ryan "unshackling" Wall Street was right. 3) Pres. Obama's comment about VP Biden's comment was perfect. He spoke of the comment detracting from the right message. 4) There should be an apology. Neither Romney or Ryan are racists, they just have a different point of view. (And I agree with Biden, it's the wrong view. Look at how many scandals/Ponzi schemes there's been. I am pro capitalism/competition, but it must be FAIR competition.) And 5) It is racist to suggest the use of the phrase "y'all" is a call/summons to blacks only. That was racism on the part of some media, but I believe ignorantly and not maliciously. It's a southern/common term, & was greatly used by former Pres. G.W. Bush.
There are certain lyrics in this great hymn I know longer hold true due to growth in utmost #truth. I know some may still argue with me concerning those things. I once was, but am no longer in a "helpless estate" for one. Nevertheless, this is still one of my absolute favorite hymns and Christian songs, especially the first and last stanza. But no lyrical content more than the words of that sweet melodious refrain: It is well with my soul, it is well, it is well with my soul, is as true and dear and eternal to me and should be to all believers.
There's talk of adding an extra tax to junk food as a deterrent to unhealthy food choices that lead to bigger problems, yet still giving choice, like with cigarettes. I'm not for this because it makes the #responsible, pay more for something they occasionally enjoy. However, if I did put stock in the "add tax" thinking, I would like to put an extra tax on the producers of "Reality TV". They develop bad #character and it's taking its toll on society and this era. But I'll stick with free choice, some common sense regulations, and the power of influence to convince others by just/moral convictions, speech, and by example. Such is the foundation of America. #backtothebasics.
The American Economy and Class-Warfare Debate As I See It
The brilliance of America's founders...
When I hear on National Tv media a senator put down how the Commander-In-Chief runs the military, who has been neither hawk or dove, I'm disgusted. I was behind W. Bush, and I expect America 2b behind Pres. Obama, or @ least say it behind closed doors. In the conflicts we are already in, neither financially or in man power would it be wise for our armed services to do more physically if we can avoid it, but diplomacy is key. But when a senior senator and former presidential candidate goes on tv and disrespects the President and his direction, it's dispicaple. And this open division, is the problem. It's an election year. I get it! So all the domestic matters are fair game. But to suggest to foreign countries America hasn't done enough, and that they're right to "not forget who helped", if there are attacks, please Sen. McCain, remember your words today, Aug 12th, 2012 on Fox News Sunday. Some things should be off limits. Our guys are over there now. Our military service men are not political pawns. Please #think before you speak. Oh yeah. And this speech is acceptable, but a commercial by a Super Pac about Romney's business practices is out of bounds. No good.
Gen 1:27 we were made in the image/likeness of God & given dominion; male and female. (to what extent are we exactly like GOD. It must be answered)
"I'm Taking My Ball And I'm Going Home" :
Ted Cruz, Tx Rep. (Tea Party) Sen. Candidate, said on Fox News Sunday he's never seen a Hispanic pan handler. This is when we get ridiculous on the other side of bias. And, it's still a kind of bigotry. All panhandlers are of all ethnicities except Hispanic? C'mon. There's good and bad in all races. Come to NY, Cruz. You'll see a little of everything.

Many are quick to blame young people's lack of mathematical skills and basic education for errors at cash registers. But check out this major corporation mistake. A "S-M-H" situation if I've ever saw one. Burger King sells 3 French Toast sticks for $1 and also sells 5 French Toast sticks of the same size and shape for $2.59. Huh? I'll let you do the math, but I'd love to sit and watch a BK breakfast shift and see how many place an order for 5 French Toast sticks and you've guessed it, Shake-My-Head all day long. OMG. It's actually on the menu board folks. Fix it BK. And let's continue to improve USA education. Remember, kids will grow up, and educated or not, they are our future and will run the world. Let it not be a horrific prospect, but a great, joyous hope and expectation.
