A New Breed

Many are throwing around this word mandate.
I know what President Obama means. But I heard it repeated by many other Congress people, Senators and Governors, even. Mandate can be applicable as in delivering to the voters what you promised. But America please be reminded.

We are not a pure democracy, but a Republic with democratically elected representatives that make up 2/3rds of the balance of power in our federal government.

All elected officials should have integrity and to all they can to make good on promises they made that caused the people to vote for them. However, they still must balance that with what is best as they are privied to the bigger picture, more information and what is actually right per that information and possible. Then each representative must give adequate, truthful, conclusive explaination of all decisions made, to their constituents.

It is in the lack of integrity in public servants that promise things they already know is not right, best or possible to get elected. And it is also misinformed and/or the unyielding, inflexibility of voters that just want what they want and can careless how or if it can be done. These vote preference only, but call it principle, though oftentimes there desire is unfounded. And of course, fuel is added to the fire when political opponents jump on these lost causes as broken promises of incumbents.

All of these dynamics have led to an improper and dysfunctional government of which remains now, with all the consequences that come with it. Each side feeding the other.

But there is hope.

Trustworthy politians; a new breed is coming and here. It is a breed that will not compromise just to compromise. Will not only desire their way just to be stubborn as if John Q. Public's life is one big game of "Chicken". But they will always look to do what is right and do what is best for all Americans, according to the spirit of America. They will not have first allegience to political parties with preplanned impersonal agendas, or concepts that do not consider the present issue for best solution, but they will do what is right by considering all. Many of them will put their political lives and legacies on the line, to avoid political games. Some will be lifetime servants, but not life time politicians. If they can't help, they will help who can.
