Gay Marriage: The Big Picture from An American Justice View and A Religious One

Today, WLIW 21 showed a documentary about a #gay rights activist group that went to the #Supreme Court concerning use of the word Olympics for an event called the Gay Olympics. The gay rights group's contention in the debate was, a word is a word is a word. I see the set up. I see the sowing of seeds and a laying of the foundation for using the word #marriage. Listen. There has to be a distinct difference made between faith/religion and government. Both sides have failed to make such distinctions and have crossed lines. Can a LBGT supporter make an accurate, Christian argument for gay marriage or homosexuality? No. Can a Christian make a case against LBGTs using the American justice system? They swear they can. But no. The US #Constitution doesn't need to be changed. It neither hinders or supports gay marriage. In fact, it doesn't address marriage at all. President Clinton's Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) only protects states rights. It is useless in the debate. Is gay marriage a federal issue? Is it a state issue? Well, we tried letting civil rights be a state issue many times prior. How did that turn out? Even 100 plus years after a civil war was fought with human/civil rights and liberties being a major, if not the major factor, we still had to march to Washington, and even after that, use federal marshals and civil disobedience. But, it is right to go to and through local and state laws and justice systems first. I hate big government. America was not designed to go big first. According to American justice, gay unions should happen. Is it valid to quibble over the term marriage? I see the religious point of view, especially when it comes to public education. I can see a line being crossed similar to Evolution and Big Bang verses Creationism, Sexual Safety verses Abstinence, and I'm Gay, Was Born This Way verses A Choice. A major concern will always be about the impressional minds of our children; our future. I was reminded of my own personal view recently, concerning the viewing of violent films and playing violent video games by those 18 and under, in the aftermath of Aurora, Co. But that's another article. Concerning adults. We must always side with free choice. That's the American way. With that said, let them get married. Let it happen. As long as no religious person, as provided by the 1st amendment, is prevented from freely speaking their point of view and making statements of faith against gay marriage or the lifestyle period. This is apart of our faith and the power of change. And also, per the same 1st amendment, no religious person should be forced to perform ceremonies, other than civilly. Even in civil cases, any fair minded homosexual couple should not want to make anyone do what their faith or belief opposes. And we all want to be fair, dont we? Isn't that what the fight is about? There are many who would be glad and proud to perform such affairs. But, if push came to shove, all judges and magistrates should be prepared to do it or get off the bench. You can speak against anything and even quote scriptures, but as government employees and American public servants, you can not pick and choose which laws to follow, or whom you will serve. My faith says marriage is between a man and woman and homosexuality is wrong. This will never change. Christianity is a Theocracy, not a democracy. The rules are already layed out by God. We speak the truth in #love. We are #compassionate and merciful, but you can't have #mercy absent of #truth. His truth AND mercy forever endures. It is #truth that sets free. (And if I can not say this and be accepted and justly treated, even getting any job or office, America and the constitution is a sham! You can ask, and I will tell, even without you asking, I'm a Christian. I'm not and will not ever be made ashamed.) As an American citizen, civil servant and human being, I have no right and no one has the right to impose their beliefs on anyone else or treat anyone unjustly in any way. This includes all discrimination concerning any job, any place to live, marriage/civil unions (outside the Church), adoption (outside the four walls of the Church, but not outside any for-profit agency, even if religiously owned and operated), etc. And again, this goes both ways. (Shout out to #Chick-Fil-A. No one has the right to hinder any business from opening any where because they don't like the owners personal views; religious or otherwise. Speech does not constitute discrimination, else we all probably have a suit. I'm telling you now concerning Chick-Fil-A. YOU DON'T WANT THIS FIGHT!!! Do right public servant office holders.) Life, #liberty and the pursuit of happiness for all is right, just and the law of the land. #Equality. Equality. Equality. Even the bible says Christians are not to force, but are to convince or convict by the preaching of the gospel. In the first 3 chapters of Romans, Paul makes a case, as per God, to let them (specifically homosexuals) do what they want to do. God gives choice. In Deuteronomy, it says He lays before all (specifically Israel at the time) life and death, and then tells them to CHOOSE life. I have stated most of this before, but I will again. Before the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah, the Lord goes to Abraham first, because he will teach his children right, and God doesn't withhold information from the righteous. There's also the whole mankind was given dominion over the Earth thing. Abraham knows of the cities' sins, but he doesn't applaud their impending doom. He begs the Lord not to destroy if 10 righteous people are found. He comes to the number 10 after pleading with God much, using greater numbers and getting the Lord down to the number 10. It was Abrahams hope to give Sodom and Gomorah the best chance of salvation. Oh! If he had only kept going and got the number down to 1. (I would say something about a peoples haggling skills. Something like, it ain't just for merchandise. But, I'd probably get in a lot of trouble, so I won't say it. C'mon. Smile ; ) But back to my point. Christians. I don't know how to calculate the proper ratio, but if a minimal number of righteous are found, destruction will not come. In fact, scratch the finding of the ratio, the answer is 1. 1 righteous man makes a difference. (Side Christian, theological note. It was the ground of Sodom and Gomorah that cried out to God and moved him to destroy. Ten righteous weren't found because they were killed as they protested the unrightous behavior. Look at Lot's reaction. He wasn't just concerned with sodomy or rape. Now the blood of the righteous was crying out from the ground. See my earlier blog entry; I Speak Life, Do You? I say all this to say all of #creation is crying out and waits for the #sons of God to fix it (Rom. 8:19). All creation is waiting for those washed and reborn with the new blood of Jesus, to speak better things; #peace, #justice, #truth, #mercy and #love with all #sincerity. When the Lord has to come and He will, like righteous Lot, we have been vexed to the point of ineffectiveness, or as in Jesus's case, are not vexed, but allow the people to do what they are going to do, saving some; the "whosoever". Make the connection.) I considered leaving out the above paragraph in this post, but the inclusion of it speaks to the overall point. I'm a Christian. And my faith does not hinder, nor discriminate against you, your faith, atheism, values or beliefs. It should not be a secret or keep me from any goal in life, even out side of the Church. And you must know, if you who don't believe as I do, are discriminated against in any way, I will fight with all that is within me, even against the Church! How can gay marriage effect heterosexual marriage? Christians have the power to save, heal, raise the dead, and send to heaven, but can not stay married because another group does the same? Huh? What? Besides, we are doing a bang-up job on our own on destroying the "sacred" institution with over 50% of #marriages ending in #divorce. And let me add, as I get madder even as I type! Then, you slam me for telling you the truth that God hates divorce. Hello! That's scripture, too. I will let you look it up and study to shew your ownselves approved. It's okay for you to point your finger and quote scriptures at LBGTs, but when I bust you, you're all "nobodies perfect" and "mercy" and "we all make mistakes". And don't tell me all 50% concerned violence and adultery. Get outta here. This is why there's little influence. You can dish it, but you can't take it. Enough. Stop it! Both sides, pro and against gay marriage for whatever reason, must see the big picture. Separate your faith from law. Separate your agenda from religion. And #think. I said this before and this will not be the last time you hear this from me. Impede ones rights and all of our rights are in danger, even your precious freedom of religion. And on the other side, all #LBGT strides for equality using the #Constitution, will be in jeopardy because the document will be rendered worthless. #Think! Peace always and always #consider. God bless America. Yulanda K. Jones
