It Is Well
There are certain lyrics in this great hymn I know longer hold true due to growth in utmost #truth. I know some may still argue with me concerning those things. I once was, but am no longer in a "helpless estate" for one. Nevertheless, this is still one of my absolute favorite hymns and Christian songs, especially the first and last stanza. But no lyrical content more than the words of that sweet melodious refrain: It is well with my soul, it is well, it is well with my soul, is as true and dear and eternal to me and should be to all believers.
Read and meditate.
Peace always,
Yulanda K. Jones Ps. I love that line in stanza 2: "Let this blest assurance CONTROL". Whew! Amen!
It Is Well
When peace, like a river, attendeth my way, when sorrows like sea billows roll; whatever my lot, thou hast taught me to say, It is well, it is well with my soul.
Refrain: It is well with my soul, it is well, it is well with my soul.
2. Though Satan should buffet, though trials should come, let this blest assurance control, that Christ has regarded my helpless estate, and hath shed his own blood for my soul.
Refrain: It is well with my soul, it is well, it is well with my soul.
3. My sin, oh, the bliss of this glorious thought! My sin, not in part but the whole, is nailed to the cross, and I bear it no more, praise the Lord, praise the Lord, O my soul!
Refrain: It is well with my soul, it is well, it is well with my soul.
4. And, Lord, haste the day when my faith shall be sight, the clouds be rolled back as a scroll; the trump shall resound, and the Lord shall descend, even so, it is well with my soul.
Refrain: It is well with my soul, it is well, it is well with my soul.
