Honoring The Rich : Why Financial and Tax Reform Is Necessary in America
Ecclesiastes 10:20
...curse not the rich in your bedchamber: for a bird of the air shall carry the voice, and that which has wings shall tell the matter.
Joshua 1:8
...for then you shall make your way prosperous, and then you shall have good success.
I opened with scripture because often we defend the poor using scripture and that is right. But the bible defends the rich that became rich the right way, too.
I applaud all Republicans in government, media, and in business for agreeing that there is nothing wrong with tax rates on the richest, Top 2% being raised right now. This is right and expedient to pay down America's debt.
But please here me. This is a temporary measure and for now only. We can not keep punishing good success and the rich every time America is in financial danger, nor can we forever stay in financial danger, by never cutting spending, or balancing the budget, and make the successful pay for it. That's not right.
There was a recent FaceBook post. The post asked if President Obama could or would put a stop to America's so called class warfare. Below was my response.
**Repost (with some editting)**
I agree that Obama will, but with our help.
The only way it will happen is if we all lay down our social grouping of power. If Latinos can get together, Women can band together, LBGTs, and other groups create power bases, then why can't the Rich or White men or Rich white men do so inorder to protect their best interest? We can't have it both ways.
As far as Rich vs. Poor goes, we must focus and factor in responsibility, fair competition and the American dream. What if someone has no home because they gambled it away, while another playing by the rules becomes a billionaire? It's not fair to take more from the billionaire, demonize him or her, and say its because of class warfare. We can't punish good success, while still holding out the carrot of achieving the American Dream. This is a clear conflict and makes no sense.
God loves a cheerful giver, one that gives NOT of necessity but willingly. The only way to stop the "war" is a flat tax or as close to it as possible, tax ALL increase and personal earnings; income and interest at the same rate, or at least raise the rate on interest above 15%, but not too much as to not discourage investors, and unfortunately regulation.
I know business men hate too much regulation. In theory, you are right, but you fail to factor in the immorality of men. You conviently forget about immorality and greed that cause business men to lobby and plead for corporate welfare, tax breaks, and other entitlements, while they adversely do the opposite for their employees and the public. As examples see Enron and every ponzi scheme. And look at all the scandals from 2000 up until now alone. Regulation is necessary in these times inorder to better support free trade, promote Capitalism and competition that is FAIR but across the board.
The end result of all of the above will not produce equality necessarily, but will produce equal opportunity for all. That is, equal oppurtunity and not an equal split, the real responsibility and goal of any Democratic Republic and of Capitalism. Systems that seek to create actual equality do not work.
Two systems that seek to create or force actual equality and equal distribution are Socialism and Communism. They both promise freedom, especially economically, but only enslaves and punishes good work ethics or rewards sloth, unrighteousness, and evil intentions depending on your point of view. They just don't work.
God bless America, the Rich, the Rich to be, and Capitalism by way of Fair Competition.
Yulanda K.
PS: I wrote this yesterday and lost it all. Thank God what's in you can always be re-created.
