More On The Use Of The Word Mandate...

Another problem with using the word "mandate",  is it gives the appearance, if taken seriously, America is moving a way from a Republican system of government.

In context, President Obama used the word mandate properly being that he won the election for the office that governs the whole nation; all citizens, and not just a sect of constituents in a particular locale. All other candidates that won, whether Democratic or Republican, in any context,  use the word incorrectly. If any other elected official insists on having an actual mandate from the people, then the American government of system could be considered more socialist, rather than a Democratic Republic. Socialism is when the people collectively rule and have the final say. They are the government fully and give more than suggestions and desires, but orders or mandates that all representatives must follow.  That is not America, though as I have stated many times, there are some social aspects to our rule of government.

Leaders are to lead. It is wise to gather information and opinions from all others. But in a Republic, the people elect officials to make final decisions based on our laws, facts, what's best for all, wise council, and if possible opinions and preferences.

There are leaders. And then there are leaders of leaders.

Every Congressman, and Senator are leaders. Not only must they solve issues and find the best solutions for their constituents, but each decision must be also weighed against what is good and best for the whole country. They must make their requests known, but yield and cooperate with each of their colleagues; the rest of Congress and the Senate. The only one that is responsible for all singularly and must pull it all together is the only one elected by all; the Leader in Chief, which is whomever holds the office of the President of the United States of America. This is the picture of a properly functioning Republic in the simplest form. This is America. We will not be a dysfunctional nation.

God Bless America.
