Slight #ImmigrationReform Glitch
Slight #ImmigrationReform Glitch
I'm in full agreement with Sen. Marco Rubio and others that believe that no one already breaking the law and here illegally, should then be allowed to qualify for welfare and receive American benefits. It is one of those things that greatly effects our economy that many disregard and do not want to consider.
However, if per a Reform bill, we agree to not deport the 11 million plus here now, but create the same path to citizenship available to all from other countries, but allow them to get on track from within the country with a clear set of rules and requirements, then it would be inhumane to withhold benefits from them if they legitimately are in need and qualify.
We don't let people die in the streets for any reason. That's not America. If one were found here illegally, we should help, but it is also right to then deport them. But once they are registered and compliant, per the Immigration Reform proposal, then they would be here legally, with our permission, as residents and guests. Civility and humanity and fairness must come into play. And the fines and back taxes they would pay, also should qualify them to partake.
The key would be the registration part of the bill. Anyone registered and waiting for citizenship, but truly qualifies for certain benefits should receive them. I believe the benefits should be limited to basic rights, though. And as with American citizens now, whether native or immigrant, it is up to state and local agencies to be diligent and prevent all fraud concerning anyone applying for and receiving welfare or assistance.
If those illegally here now fail to register, but seek benefits, then we must be ready to deny and deport. And we also must be ready to enforce laws against any person and/or agency that seeks to bypass and undermine the law in any way. They too would be essentially breaking the law.
Every aspect of this bill must be enforced, and complied with if it is going to work, or else the whole plan and all Immigration Reform will be worthless.
Consider.
