Plan Your Work, Then Work Your Plan

On Sunday, September 23rd, 2012's edition of Meet The Press, Gov. Deval Patrick (D-MA) made a great quick comment about government, our economy, and taxes or raising money. Sometimes, the simplest wisdom is best, but overlooked in the argument.

He said basically, we are putting the cart before the horse when we discuss the economy and government.
First, we must discuss and decide what we want government to do, then discuss how to pay for it. Brilliant.

For those of you that are Christian or Jewish, I have a scriptural passage:

Habakkuk 2:2
...Write the vision, and make it plain on tables, that he may run that reads it.

Another scripture, Proverbs 29:18 says:
Without vision, the people shall perish...

Vision first, then provision. A plan first, then many will follow, and our nation will not only survive, but thrive to a greatness beyond any thing we have experienced in past eras. Many will run to help provide for the completion of the thing. And many will have no problem giving of themselves when they know the end goal.

We saw this with WW I and II and other American conflicts. We also saw the negative response when the people could not see the clear goal, a la Vietnam.

After the Depression, all got behind ideas that would help sustain all. There was a plan to maintain the majority of the nation which was having a most difficult time, largely through no fault or irresponsible behavior of their own, also, AT THE SAME TIME, plans were developed and implemented to help the entire nation get to a better place and prosper.

President Franklin D.Roosevelt was great at developing programs to serve as safety nets and an economic plan to catapult many back to normalcy and to a new level. A mediator.

Certain circumstances of this era are different, such as the way media covers politics, how political parties operate, and how those of opposing parties deal with one another in the House and with the Executive Branch. But what needs to be done, can be done. Yes we can. And yes we will. What is the alternative? It's one thing to be defeated by an enemy, it's quite another, and lower than low, to be defeated by your ownself, because we can't come together.

God Bless America.
And where there's a (good) will, there's a (good) way.
