Rightly Divide The Law First, Then Make Decisions: The Second Amendment

To be clear because of what the Second Amendment actually stands for, I am for regulation, but not for a total band on what is being called "assault" rifles. It's far better to hold manufactors; better safety/possible locking devices so only owners can use, sellers, licensed owners, and illegal possessors/users accountable.

As civilized as a government we are, the Second Amendment is not about hunting or even self defense and defense of property against thugs and mere criminals directly, but only by extension. The primary real cause and reasoning behind the Second is that there is an understanding that the nation needs a well regulated (fulltime) militia to guarantee a free state and protect the free state from threats by external or internal forces. Therefore, the people also have a right to be armed incase said well regulated militia becomes the threat itself; either the whole or sects/members of it. This is right. The founders were brilliant. Read the Second Amendment.

In addition, everytime there's a tragedy, we here talks of coming together and that we have to do something. It sounds right, but is wrong. When is there a time not to stand together? When is there a time not to do the right thing? We heard these kind of come together calls on September 11th, during Katrina, after Hurricane Sandy, and of course now after Newtown.  They are not wholly wrong, but we must recognize that if we have to say come together, then we must have at some point fell out or fallen apart. Let us always stand as American brothers knitted together and perfectly inter-dependant.

Emotionally driven calls for togetherness and change gives evil and tragedy and bullies an advantage and more control over our lives. It makes us reactionary and not proactive.

Imagine if someone knew you were going to react a certain way everytime a particular thing happened, be it good or bad, they now can control your every move.

Wise government and regulation according to the times is good concerning all matters. But let the foundation stand. And a major precept where as that foundation was set is liberty. Much more should liberty be to that good citizen then regulation to the bad. But we can make laws for accountability and then punishment.

Consider the whole matter. I'm glad The White House and VP Biden is meeting with all sides; the NRA, Brady Law propents and other pro regulation groups and actual victims of some of these crimes.

God Bless America.
