Quotas And Affirmative Action Is Discrimination, Too
Men for years have used logic (from their point of view) and studies to justify discrimination and bias. Sometimes, it was not vicious or evil, only ignorant. That's not an insult. Many women also agreed. It just was a fact. Men, due to their God given, undeniable greater physical capabilities than that of women, were law enforcement, construction workers, and military, while women were teachers, nurses and stay at home wives and/or mothers. This has changed and rightfully so.
While on average men are definately physicallly stronger, women compensate the same way weaker men within the male gender have always done.
This morning I watched To The Contrary with Bonnie Erbe. (I so looove her!) It hurts my heart to see women now do the same things they fought against, and justify it. Now they are the ones coming up with studies and justifications for quotas and ways to place women in Board Rooms and in other positions based on gender alone.
It wasn't all of the women, but one of the woman of the To The Contrary round table actually said that women think more, and are more detailed. WHAAAT!!! Could you imagine if a roundtable of men said that about women?! Imagine if Mitt Romney said it or any Republican. We have to stop. Why is this different than what men did? We are now reasoning and co-signing gender bias. Whether men against women or the reverse, discrimination and prejustice is the same! And is wrong.
We have to be careful with studies. It's the old nature verses nurture argument. If men, through social testing seem to be less prepared, perhaps it is because they never had to be. And women may over compensate or go the extra mile, because they have to.
As an African-American I grew up being told that I had to be twice as good as everyone else inorder to just break even. That expected output of effort was then squared, because I'm black and female. So I conclude, because there's no evidence that women and men are actually, naturally different, outside of physicality, that the social studies are a result of nurture. And nurture can be changed to influence and change mindsets, without sexism, ageism, racism or any "ism"; traditional or in reverse. Train people in the way that's right from the beginning, when they are children.
In addition, I know some may not be of my faith, but I have to insert it. I'm a Christian. And what I am about to say is actually contained in and of the Jewish, Muslim, and Morman faiths as well as other philosophies. There is no female or male God. There is one God in which all of mankind; male and female was made in the image and likeness of. And both genders were given dominion over all the Earth. So, I again conclude that the differences we come up with to either exclude or forcibly include is man (and woman) made only, and not of the Creator or by Intelligent design.
Let the right people be in the right places. America and the world suffers when the wrong people rise. We must factor in affirmative action, and its negative consequences, in the decline of certain aspects of society and life. This includes all quotas.
I'm a black woman and I'm now qualified to do many of the things I aspire to be and will do. America will be all it says it is and I will prove it or have nothing. I will not entertain any middle ground because I love this nation, I care for future generations, and I love myself.
I challenge America to BE, what it boasts and brags that it is. BE the country that stands for liberty and justice for all. America can't be that and have quotos, too. One cancels the other.
God Bless the America contained in our founding principles. And if there be anything else needed to be added, let it be a layer that properly fits on top of the foundation already built. If it doesn't fit, it ain't legit. Back to the basics. Let's take off the training wheels, and see if this generation can ride straight and balanced. Then the next era can say "Look Fore-Fathers. No Hands". I know it's corny, but you get the point :)
See ya. There will be peace and justice. Our Constitution demands it.
