Creative Finance

Sometimes you do have to tax. There's never a one answer solution when you have to provide for any community or entity. But taxing should never be the only option, and raising taxes especially in these times, when we are coming out of a bad economic period, and things are so expensive, should never be any public servants first option.

Even in good times, those that serve the public and manage public funds MUST always be looking to keep as much money at the disposal of those that earned it and in the citizens pockets, and still get done all that needs to be done for the community such as civil service salaries, education and ALL infrastructure.

We need more creative financing in government. Taxes is only one available stream, and even within it, there's sales verses earnings tax. And within earnings, there's  salary verses earned interest from investments. Taxes from sales, especially in luxury items or things not great for health or society, but should be allowed for Liberty's sake, like cigarettes, and now marijuana, and gambling including lotto, are great to tax because it offers people choice and the community revenue. Earned income through interest and its rate needs to be addressed again as well. Here is the only area that I agree that the rich, at working age,  should pay a little more. Money is working, not the person. This I will flesh out a little more later and my reasoning behind it, but not in this piece.

Every community should always be looking to attract big business, especially the Middle and Lower class communities that have less disposal income, but are not less deserving of a quality life.  They should always Be looking to attract much good businesses, and though it may be wise to lure them with low corporate taxes at first, it is so important that they get them on the tax role to pay their fare share. This is right. Some times, it is wise because they attract money other ways like foot traffic and employment, but corporate welfare is more of a drain than social welfare, and is more riddled with fraud sometimes, too.

So many of the lower classes are against big business for that cause, but when it's done right, business can get prime locations and the residents could and are supposed to get lowered taxes and much of their burden paid for by the business. Yet in many cases the people suffer, the corps get breaks, and the "public servants" get high paying jobs and other special favors. Guess what? I'm not against any of the latter. There's nothing wrong with favor and certain "quid pro quo" s, but all should win including the citizens and residents of that location, including those not involved with that business or in government. They should not be the only ones cut out of the good deals and fortunates. Everyone winning is the true model and point of Capitalism; not greed or corruption on anyone's part. It takes integrity and honor, especially on the part of all public servants, and cooperation from all. The People must also stay informed and knowledgeable about all, and be vigilant. Knowledge is more than half the battle and none should blindly be drinking anyone's "Kool-Aid".

There's one more creative way to finance an electorate that I do not believe is tapped into enough. Corporate partnership in for profit situations is just one kind of partnership that can and should be used. But the model that should be front and center right now is the not for profit and government partnerships.

One, many of these, individuals and larger organizations already get tax breaks to do what they do. Many times communities double dip unnecessarily providing a service publicly and giving breaks to nonprofits for doing exactly the same things. Sometimes both are necessary but not always. When government and private nonprofits come together, once again all The People win and that should always be the case. Every time you turn around, you here about this celebrity doing this, or this foundation doing that. Why not do all these things in conjunction with government, sometimes? And not all of these are celebrities or rich, but there are the average always "do gooders" and our religious entities too, always urgently and passionately seeking to do good deeds. It doesn't take big money to be called a humanitarian, just a big heart. In these kind of partnerships, it would be yet, another win/win/win for all.  Once again, it could lessen the financial burdens of the regular folks, many of them just trying to live day to day, many of them looking to achieve the now too elusive American Dream that we as a nation still promote, and should always promote. We are still that Multi Colored Dream Coat of favor and opportunity greater than in all the world. But if it alludes any, and they are responsible and do all they can, life should still be good. Keeping every dime in their pockets, that is possible, is part of that.

I have out lined many of these things before. Whether in good times or in bad times economically, it is still right for government to give us the best care with big ideas, AND save us every dollar possible. Ideas, status quo and expansion is all apart of political and government leadership. And with that, must always come fiscal responsibility. Too many times, whether on their own, or forced by voters, who only want what they want, politicians pander and refuse to only say and do what is right and best. All, them AND voters, must take responsibility for that if this country and every community that makes it, is going to thrive and be the best it can be and a great future for our future; the children now, and the generations to come.

Knowledge is the key for the civilians and voters. And while in military and national security it is unwise to be so transparent, but no doubt with all honor and integrity, it is very wise for all, that there be much more transparency in financial matters. Where are the "Snowdens" to blow some of those whistles? Bill Moyers and Tavis Smiley shout outs. I do not always agree with their assessments, but they do keep the good pressure on Washington and government, from the outside, concerning these things and protecting the poor and little guy.

Enough for now. Peace. All you cum ba ya folks must realize that prosperity, aka MONEY may not be the only part, but a large part of peace. And not other people's money, as in Socialism or a Commune, though there is space for that in all Democratic Republics, but their own earned and well deserved money. Inner peace rests greatly on the honor of receiving and keeping what one earns with their own hands, mind, and daily business. The psycho analytical world has yet really to tap in to this. It differs from greed and hyper ambition. And this kind of peace that is found, I am finding is not only for individuals, but for nations too. Withholding from those in need is not right. But always just giving to the able bodied and sound mind is just as wrong, too. Both could come back to bite the feeder eventually. We that have, nation or individual, must always look for and find that sweet spot in between.

God Bless America always. And may He continue to crown our GOOD, with brotherhood, from sea to shining sea.

And may God bless every nation and every man, woman, boy and girl in all the world as well, with all Creation through us.

We have already changed the world for better. We will continue to.

Graced and Sent,

Yulanda K. - At your good service now. I care.
