Personality Conflicts
Personality Conflict
God has tempered the body together the way He sees fit. Throughout the bible there were many who were connected but had personal or personality conflicts. Jesus and John the baptist were different and their methods were different. Jesus even says, John came neither eating nor drinking and I came eating and drinking. Yet, John was the last of the old and Jesus began the new and had to be baptized by John. John is Jesus fore runner.
Peter and John also clearly had a conflict. Peter being one of the eldest of the disciples and John being the youngest probably caused much of the contention. But Jesus (who knows all and sees all) chose both because that was who the Father (who sees the end from the beginning) chose to be of the twelve. Both contributed greatly.
Peter also has conflicts with Paul. (I am sensing a theme with Peter.) This was probably due to the fact Peter knew Jesus personally and had a specific word from Him (upon this rock..) and Paul, not only never handled the flesh of Christ, but persecuted the very church that was built upon that rock (the doctrine of Christ) Peter was noted for saying first. Though it is only conjecture, I dare say Jesus himself had a personality conflict with Peter. Yet, all were ordained to work together.
The issue with God is always character, not personality. And even then, it is what it is. Yes, personality can indicate and dictate character, but they are not the same. As seen with Peter who is the first of the disciples to openly proclaim Jesus as Christ, he then denies Him thrice to save his own neck. Only later to, in the face of imprisonment or death, openly defy authorities and use the name of Jesus to evangelize and heal and bring into the faith thousands of souls. He fights with Paul, only to publicly praise him in one of his final written messages acknowledging his misunderstanding of Paul and his doctrine. Our Father sees what you will be and will "put you in the game" so to speak before your character is hardened and solid. But your personaliy doesnt dictate your assignment. If your quiet or jolly or whatever doesnt matter as long as you walk in love and get the assignment done. He knows your end.
It is these truths that make me very careful and restrained in just getting rid of people. It was foretold of betrayal, but Jesus does not get rid of Judas. Even after 400 plus years of oppression of the Hebrews (his people and carriers of the seed of Christ) by Egypt and Pharoah, God doesn't just cast the oppressors down but sends his servants Moses and Aaron to simply say let My people go. They go through quite a series of escalating negative consequences before destruction. Consider Adam and Eve. God gives opportunity for explanation and repentance. He never just strikes. Sodom and Gomora was given a chance to be redeemed if one righteous was found. Let me go further. There was that servant with one talent that buried it and then told his master to go dig it up. God gave Him space and has a conversation with him first. And during the time of his lazy disobedience, the other two servants were not allowed to use the third ones talent even though he was doing nothing with it. It was only until God destroyed him and gave it to the one with five, there was transference of wealth . Consider Saul. Though David had been anointed, Saul is still allowed to reign and even David dared not touch him. But it was Saul that killed himself. Only then, could David take his place. God indeed is long suffering towards us all. I am the glass half full person, so I see it as time given for mercy and for us to get it right, but one could also see it as God giving enough rope to hang ones self.
I can be around the cusser, the bigot, the homosexual, the drug dealer, the rebellious, the worshiper of another God/practicer of other religions outside Christianity, the prankster, the jokster, the quiet, the loud, the diva, the helper, the youthful, the aged, the single, the romantic, the married, the childless, the serial child bearer (but smh ;-) ), the strong, the weak, the ignorant, the leaned, the foolish, etc. To quote Paul, Im indebted to the wise and unwise; the Jew and the Greek. But when you try to make me be as you are, we have a problem. And indeed I believe this was Peters problem. I have sworn even to my own hurt to worship Him in spirit and truth. This means in all sincerity, no pretense, extracting from His presence and applying it moment by moment. I am willing to bear the infirmities of the weak, but as we get closer to the end, God is saying, there are very few actual, bonafied, justifiably weak and ignorant. Its a device used to control atmospheres and get ones preference. Much like Peter.
So even to my fellow believers, I say, I can not be what God has not ordained me to be. Here I am. There's a manifold wisdom of inter-dependence; a godly network; a people knitted together by joints and bands having nourishment to edify itself in love unto Love, at work. A network of righteousness. And if you question my actions or words, I am ready with an answer as to why I am who I am and why I say or do what I do. But for the glory to descend and cover the earth, I gotta be me. There are souls at stake. And yes, if you should find a word or scripture that my behavior doesn't match, I am willing and will proudly repent and make an a bout face turn. But free to be the me that He made before the very foundations of the world is a must. And you must be free to be the you that was declared. And we must do it together even where God has planted us. This is perfection. Two people could be exactly opposite, yet both righteous. Two people could be just a like and one ordained by God and the other not. There are so many different configurations. Seek God. Do right. Expect right. Stay focused. Be guided by the ever PRESENT Holy Spirit and not by past experiences of others or yourself unless that is where He directs. He is real. Be authentic. And in all things give Him glory and praise.
Grace and peace.
